Social Media Spotlight: Vergetone Productions

social media marketing, social media managementThis week, we are pleased to present a music production company that is based out of Brooklyn, NY and operates out of New York, Buffalo and Boston. Vergetone Productions focuses on musicianship and production value to deliver high quality, creative music. The company provides production, recording, and mixing services to bands and artists, as well as post-production sound design and composition for companies and filmmakers. We were lucky enough to speak to Mike Baldo, a producer for Vergetone, about their social media marketing initiatives. Here is what he had to say:

Which social media platforms do you currently use?

M: We currently work with FacebookTwitter, and our Wordpress blog.

What value, if any, has social media provided for your business?

M: Social media has made a huge impact on our company. The social media tools we use have allowed us to promote Vergetone’s services and portfolio, while also helping us reach out to potential clients. Fans of the music we produce are able to interact directly with our clients, helping connect bands to listeners and build a larger fan base.

Which social media platform works best for your business? Why?

M: Facebook has proven to be the most valuable platform for Vergetone so far. It has helped us get important insight into our users and sales efforts. By posting album releases, videos, or exclusive tracks through Facebook, we’ve been able to engage in a conversation with listeners and gain feedback on our services, allowing us to improve. Vergetone users on Facebook are able to learn about our company, but also participate in the music we make and get access to the finished product.

How has social media impacted your business in terms of marketing and sales?

M: The music industry has become extremely reliant on the Internet and social media. By having a strong social media presence, Vergetone has been able to spread the word about our company and our music to an interactive community of potential clients. Because most new music is discovered through social media sharing and recommendations, our ability to participate in this community allows us to connect directly to clients who are a part of the conversation. This gives them an honest and interactive insight into Vergetone’s portfolio and how we can help their music.

Do you have any advice for companies who are on the fence about social media?

M: I would suggest that companies be as honest and collaborative as possible with social media. Posting ads and one-way updates can bore users and turn them away if they feel you are always trying to sell them something. Engaging in a conversation with fans/followers helps build trust and gives a company valuable insight into their services.

Is there any social media strategy that you would like to improve or do differently?

M: We’re currently working on improving our efforts with Twitter. Vergetone has been using Twitter with some marketing success, but we would like to develop a closer relationship with our followers and participate in more direct, collaborative conversations.

Vergetone Productions is using social media in a very strategic manner. They understand the importance of joining conversations on social networks in order to reach potential clients and gain feedback. Additionally, they recognize that social media should not be used as a one-way street to promote your brand to customers, and they engage with their customers to build trust. Very smart!
